On Tuesday, April 15th several social robotics lab members hosted a Google Hangout for the GUTS club (Growing Up Thinking Scientifically) at a rural school in New Mexico. GUTS is an NSF award-winning after school program lead by teacher Jennifer Cordova. It gives students experiences with modeling, science, and programming. There is no funding for field trips, so Ms. Cordova arranges virtual visits with computer science professionals via Google Hangout and Skype.
Lab members Iolanda Leite, Henny Admoni, Alex Litoiu, Aditi Ramachandran, and Corina Grigore led a virtual field trip through the lab, demonstrating several of our robots and discussing their research.
